Mr. Davenport received his first black belt in 1978, advanced to his current rank of Go-Dan (5th Degree Black Belt), and was recently honored with induction into both the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame (Golden Lifetime Award) as well as the U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Previously World Ranked by the National Black Belt League and the International Sport Karate Association. Winner of 19 Oklahoma State Titles and a previously #1 Ranked NBL/ISKA competitor. 4-Time winner of the OSKA Black Belt Competitor of the Year Award and 2-Time recipient of the OSKA Black Belt Man of the Year Award.

Mr. Davenport served as President of the Oklahoma Karate Association and Co-Founder and President of the Oklahoma Sport Karate Association. Additionally, Mr. Davenport served for five years as the Karate Sport Coordinator for the Sooner State Games and Past-Vice Chairman, Board of Directors for the Oklahoma ‘Sooner State Games’, Oklahoma’s grassroots Olympic Festival.

To accompany his ‘traditional martial arts’ background, Mr. Davenport is a certified instructor in several less-lethal disciplines including TASER X-26/X-2, Oleoresin Capsicum, Safariland Impact Munitions and PR-24 & Monadnock Expandable Batons.

Mr. Davenport has law enforcement firearms instructor certifications in multiple disciplines including pistols, rifles and shotguns through the National Rifle Association and teaches to both law enforcement and civilian students. In 2002, Mr. Davenport achieved 4-Gun Marksman status with the International Defensive Pistol Association

In addition to the above, Mr. Davenport began training in edged-weapons with the Indian Territory Blade Alliance and ultimately received his Edged-Weapons Instructor Certification through the Valencia-LAMECO Knife Defense System.

Memberships include/included the International Martial Arts Council of America (IMAC), U.S. Black Belt Federation, the American Tae Kwon Do Association, the Indian Territory Blade Alliance, National Rife Association, International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors, International Association of Law Enforcement Education and Trainers Association, International Association of Hostage Negotiators, CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) International, U.S. Practical Shooter’s Association and International Sports Sciences Association.

Mr. Davenport, along with his wife and son, conduct “Women’s Self-Defense & Empowerment” classes at little or no cost to the participants. These classes offer basic self-defense techniques along with community resource information to assist abused and neglected women. Along with his family, Mr. Davenport is blessed to have several like-minded instructors promote and help teach these valuable classes. Typically, all monies raised through these seminars get donated to a person/family in need.

Through his school, Midwest M.A. Training Concepts, Mr. Davenport and his family has sponsored the “Children Deserve Christmas” program since 2001. This program provides food, clothing, toys and fellowship to hundreds of disadvantaged children in the Central Oklahoma area, including at least two county youth shelters.
